Ketamine is already used legally as an anesthetic and in some depression clinics. Within the next eight weeks, at least one new study published in a scientific journal is expected to show it also helps people with opioid addiction (OUD, or opioid use disorder) or the depressive episodes that come with bipolar disorder. This matters because these are serious conditions with very limited treatment options.
