The US Department of Veterans Affairs has started clinical trials testing psilocybin (the active compound in 'magic mushrooms') for PTSD and hard-to-treat depression in veterans. By late October 2026, the public trial registry will only show details about how the study is set up and how many people are enrolling — not whether the treatment actually works. This is completely normal for new trials, but it means no answers for veterans anytime soon.
Newly launched trials are years from readout; launch ≠ evidence. This is a near-term, precisely checkable registry-status prediction distinguishing recruitment activity from outcome data.
