Passing a law through Congress to remove psilocybin or MDMA from the federal banned substances list by January 2027 is extremely unlikely. There simply aren't enough votes, and the political energy around psychedelics is focused on much narrower things — like allowing military veterans to access treatment — rather than broad legalization. Changing a drug's legal status through Congress requires far more political will than currently exists.
