The DEA (the US agency that controls which drugs are legal) shows no signs of moving psychedelics out of their most restricted category in 2026. This category, called Schedule I, treats a drug as having no medical use and high abuse risk. As long as psychedelics stay there, doctors can't prescribe them and researchers face mountains of extra paperwork just to study them.
No scheduling signal today. Enforcement priorities and diversion concerns dominate; I must justify every step to devastated communities.
